Image Cropper

Crop images with a draggable selection box. Freeform or fixed ratio (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, passport 2×2"). Touch-optimized for phone use. Download the cropped result as PNG.

Files stay in your browser. Everything on this page — loading, processing, encoding — runs locally. Your images are never uploaded to any server. Re-encoding also strips EXIF metadata (camera model, GPS coordinates), which is a privacy win.

Using the cropper

Drop or choose an image. A selection box appears in the middle. Drag the box to move it, drag the corner handles to resize. If you set an aspect ratio, dragging any handle keeps that ratio. Click Crop & Download to save the cropped region as PNG (lossless).

Common ratios

1:1 square for Instagram feed posts and most profile photos. 4:3 traditional photo, TV. 16:9 HD video, YouTube thumbnails, laptop screens. 9:16 vertical for TikTok, Instagram Reels/Stories, mobile-first video. 2:3 classic portrait aspect for print. 2×2 inch passport: technically requires specific dimensions in pixels for print quality (600×600 @ 300 DPI is standard for US passport); this preset just enforces the 1:1 aspect — you'll want to resize afterwards to hit the exact pixel spec.

Touch support

Handles are 14px targets sized for finger use. Drag anywhere inside the selection to reposition; drag a corner handle to resize. If the image is bigger than the viewport, scroll around inside the wrap frame.
